Gift ideas
Collect ideas, reserve gifts and split the cost — without duplicate purchases or mix-ups.
Gift ideas is a shared space on an event or in a group where participants can suggest gifts, reserve what they intend to buy and split costs on the same gift. The recipient avoids duplicates, and guests don't have to guess.
At a glance
The host opens a gift list on their event or in their group.
Every participant can add ideas with title, description, priority and store link.
Others reserve an idea so it isn't bought twice.
Several people can split a pricier gift — the cost is divided automatically and can be paid with Swish.
Once a gift is bought it is marked as such, and the status is visible to everyone except the recipient (if the host chose to hide it).
If you're organising the event or leading the group
As host you open the list itself and set the frame. Other participants add the content.
Open the gift list
Go to your event or group and choose the "Gift ideas" tab. Click "Create gift list" and give it a title — for example "Anna's 40th birthday" or "Class trip to Berlin".
Choose visibility and recipient
In the settings you decide who can see the list: public, members only or organisers only. You can also hide already-purchased gifts from the recipient so it stays a surprise.
Invite participants to the list
Members of the event or group see the list automatically. To share with someone outside, generate a share link under "Settings" → "Share link". If the link leaks you can regenerate it so the old one stops working.
Add the first idea
Click "Add suggestion". Write a title and a short description. Set category (gift, flowers, gift card, experience) and priority (must have / nice to have / optional). Add a store link so others can click through.
Follow up and tidy
You can edit or remove suggestions that are no longer relevant. When a gift has been delivered mark it as "Delivered" so it's clear it's done.
If you're a guest or participant
You can both suggest gifts and help keep the list organised so nobody buys the same thing twice.
Add an idea
Open the "Gift ideas" tab and click "Add suggestion". You can suggest something you think the recipient will love — others can vote in the comments or reserve it.
Reserve a gift you plan to buy
Click "Reserve" on the suggestion you plan to buy. It's then marked "Reserved" for everyone else so nobody accidentally buys the same thing. You can cancel the reservation later if you change your mind.
Split the cost with others
Is the gift expensive? Click "Split cost" on the idea. Add participants (including people outside Inbjuden, e.g. "Anna's mum") and the system calculates how much each person should pay. You can pay your share with Swish directly from the page.
Mark as purchased
Once you've bought the gift click "Mark as purchased". The status updates and a receipt can be uploaded if the group is splitting the cost.
Tips & FAQ
The recipient can't see purchased gifts — if the host enabled it
Turn on "Hide purchased gifts from the recipient" if the list is for a surprise. The recipient then only sees ideas that nobody has reserved or purchased.
Reserving is not the same as purchased
Reserving is a signal to others: "I plan to buy this". When you actually buy it mark it as "Purchased" so the status is correct even if the reservation is lost.
People without an Inbjuden account can contribute
In the cost split you can add external people with just a name. You follow up on their payment outside the platform and mark them as paid manually.
Swish payments are confirmed manually
When someone has swished their share of a split gift, the person receiving the money has to mark the payment as "Paid" in the cost split. Inbjuden doesn't listen to Swish automatically.
