Create & manage groups
Gather the right people in one place — school, work, hobby or just friends who meet up often.
A group in Inbjuden is a shared space where you and others plan, chat and share gift ideas and collections. You can create anything from an informal board game evening to a whole workplace with several departments as subgroups.
At a glance
Search the registry first — schools, preschools, companies and associations are often already there.
The wizard has four steps: type, basics, hierarchy/location, visibility.
You can build subgroups for departments, teams or classes.
Visibility is public (searchable), private (members only) or hidden (invisible).
As admin you can invite members, change visibility and delegate admin rights.
If you're creating the group
You become admin immediately and set the rules for how the group works.
Search the registry first
Go to 'Find or create group'. Pick 'School', 'Preschool', 'Company' or 'Association' and search by name. Many are already in Inbjuden's registry — then one click on 'Create from registry entry' makes you admin of a correctly formatted group with the right address and registration number.
Create manually if no match
Can't find your group? Click 'Create {type} manually' to open the wizard. Works for friend circles, board game clubs, neighbourhood groups and anything else without a formal registry.
Basics — name, image, interests
Write a clear name (e.g. 'Class 4A Vasaskolan' or 'Catan board game club'). Add a profile image so the group stands out in lists. Mark 2-5 interests so the right people find you through recommendations.
Hierarchy and location
Should the group be a subgroup of a bigger one? Pick a parent in the dropdown. Example: 'Department North' under 'Stratosfär AB'. Also add a location (preferably a map pin) — it controls who finds the group geographically.
Visibility
Three levels: 'Public' (anyone can see and apply), 'Private' (visible but requires approval), or 'Hidden' (invisible — only via direct link). Some types like school or company have preset defaults; change if it doesn't fit.
Invite members and delegate
On the group's page — 'Members' tab → 'Add member' (search by name or email) or 'Share invitation link' (copy a link to send via chat/email). Click a member's name to change role (admin/moderator/member) or remove. Settings tab handles visibility, description and profile image.
If you want to join
You find groups via search, recommendations or a direct link.
Find the group
In the sidebar under 'Groups' — the 'Discover groups' tab shows public groups near you based on your address. Or use the search field if you know the name.
Click 'Join'
On the group's page — if it's public you become a member immediately. If it's private a join request goes to the group's admin for manual approval. You get a notification when approved.
Use a direct link
Got a link in a chat or via SMS? Click it — you land on the group's public view. If you're not logged in it'll prompt you to sign in or create an account first.
Leave the group
Three-dot menu (top right of the group page) → 'Leave group'. If the group is part of a hierarchy the system asks whether you also want to leave any subgroups you're a member of — tick the ones you want to leave.
Tips & FAQ
The registry mirrors official Swedish records
School and company listings come from official registries, so field names and addresses are pre-filled correctly. You can add a profile image and description but can't change the registration number or legal name.
Only some types can be subgroups of others
The wizard only shows valid parent groups. You can't, for example, have 'Preschool' under an 'Association' — types have a hierarchy that the system enforces automatically.
Hierarchy matters when you leave
If you leave a parent group (e.g. a company) but have subgroups you want to stay in (e.g. a social sauna club) — pick specifically in the 'Leave' dialog which ones to keep.
You can't change parent group after creation
Right now there's no way to move a group to a different parent once it's been created. To reorganise you have to create a new group under the right parent and re-invite the members manually.
